A charity motorcycle ride which builds upon the success of the rides which took place in 2012 and 2013.
This will be the third 'Dambusters' Charity Motorcycle Ride, the first being just a small team of 4 riders back in 2012. 2013 saw a much larger group of riders set off from RAF Scampton on 14th May to ride to the Mohne Dam as part of the 70th Anniversary of the Dambusters Raid of May 1943 to meet up with local bikers from the Mohnesee area to commemorate all the lives lost as a result of the famous Dams Raid; Operation Chastise.
Between the events in 2012 and 2013 more than £20,000 has been raised for charity - with 80% being donated to Help for Heroes and 20% to Motorcycle Outreach. In 2014 we are looking to be even bigger and better! Our target this year is to raise more than £20,000 in a single event - with our primary charity for 2014 being the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund who will receive 80% of everything we raise. Motorcycle Outreach will again receive 20% which it will share with its partner, Precious Cargo. Full details of our charities can be found on the 'Our Charities' tab.
This year our ride will be part of the 70th Anniversary of Operation Market Garden, the famous attempt to sieze the bridges on the way to the German border; 'A Bridge Too Far'.
